The RYA Online SRC\/VHF Radio Course includes a wide variety of real-life situations – both routine and distress. The innovative radio simulator helps you feel comfortable with handling a radio in a real-life situation.<\/p>\n

Syllabus<\/strong> SRC Course:<\/strong> <\/p>\n

When you have completed your online course you eligible to attend SRC\/VHF exam. Prior to siting your exam you will have the opportunity to practice with the radio equipment before commencing your exam.<\/p>\n

The practical session and exam is held with our RYA  shorebased training centre partner that offer this service.  Swiss Maritime Academy is based in Switzerland and sessions are held regularly.<\/p>\n<\/h4>\n

  • Background information on the GMDSS system and its equipment and licensing requirements<\/li>\n
  • Radio rules and regulations<\/li>\n
  • Operation of marine VHF equipment including DSC functions<\/li>\n
  • The phonetic alphabet<\/li>\n
  • Basic radio language and protocols including pro words such as over, say again, out etc.<\/li>\n
  • Correct use of the various channels<\/li>\n
  • How to make calls to other stations<\/li>\n
  • How to send a Distress Alert and Distress Message (Mayday)<\/li>\n
  • How to send an urgency alert and a safety call<\/li>\n
